San Diego Restaurant Week: Celebrating Eleven Years
Kilian Melloy READ TIME: 3 MIN.
There is no better way to kick-start the New Year, than by eating your way through "our fair city" from Sunday, January 18 to Saturday, January 24, during San Diego Restaurant Week. Foodies will be able to eat their hearts out for one full week at over 180 participating restaurants! It's one of the best opportunities for you to whet your palate in some of San Diego's finest eateries, as you enjoy three-course prix fixe dinner menus for just $20, $30, $40 or $50 per person and/or two-course prix fixe lunch menus for $10, $15 or $20 per person.
The Rage Monthly has a few newbies that we would love to recommend and a few who have been longtime favorites.
S&M SAUSAGE & MEAT
4130 Park Boulevard in University Heights
619.344.2177
sausageandmeat.com
From the creators of Slaters 50/50 comes S&M, a great new addition to University Heights' village of restaurants. They feature exotic sausages, a variety of house-made bacons and unexpected game meats to inspire a sense of adventure and perhaps push the edges of your comfort zone. We guarantee though, it will have you coming back for more! The wait staff is fun, easy going and ready to recommend pairings from their Swine Bar, the location's full bar that features 12 taps, offering unique, hard-to-find craft brews and a "savory, salty, smoky, spicy" specialty cocktail menu. What to recommend from the menu? It's hard for we meat-lovers, because everything is exceptional and fresh, with combinations that are surprising. We suggest that you start out with their Bacon Fat Deviled Eggs! Yummy!
THE PATIO ON GOLDFINCH
4020 Goldfinch Street in Mission Hills

thepatioongoldfinch.com
Recently opened just outside Hillcrest's border in neighboring Mission Hills on Goldfinch Street is The Patio, owned and operated by the same group who owns the very successful sister restaurant of the same name on Lamont in Pacific Beach. Most agree this is one of the most inspired restaurant spaces in San Diego, with open rafters, live tropical plants growing on many of the walls and a super-friendly environment. The food is amazing and so is their happy hour! San Diego Restaurant Week is the perfect time to take advantage and enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner.
BERTRAND AT MISTER A'S

What can we say about Bertrand at Mister A's? With the most spectacular views in San Diego, Bertrand at Mister A's is just minutes from Hillcrest and Downtown, providing foodies with an "anything but the ordinary" dining ex- perience. Be pampered by their attentive staff and enticed by some of the finest cuisine San Diego has to offer. Often thought of as a place "just for special occasions," now enjoy casual elegance among friends at any time - jackets are not required.
BROOKLYN GIRL EATERY BAR & PANTRY
4033 Goldfinch Street in Mission Hills

Another in the "recently opened" category is this delicious restaurant, also on Goldfinch in Mission Hills. The Brooklyn Girl Eatery Bar & Pantry is a must-try anytime and often, but it's also a must-take-advantage-of during this special week. Enjoy the prix-fixe offerings or the restaurant's extensive menu of seasonal organic products, all at moderate prices. Their bar also has a great selection of locally produced craft beer on tap and handcrafted cocktails, with an extensive, yet affordable, wine list.
