A San Diego-based personal trainer is opening up about becoming the first transgender man to model for the underwear company Andrew Christian.

Speaking with Gay Star News this week, Jesse Diamond, 27, revealed he's the first trans man to be featured in a campaign from the company, calling the opportunity a "dream come true." He is featured in Andrew Christian's annual Pride campaign, which also happens to be his first modeling gig.

"When I started working out about five years ago, my dream was basically to become Marky Mark," he said. "I wanted to be an underwear model, a buff guy, and I've been buying Andrew Christians for years. So it was definitely like a dream come true for me."

Designer Andrew Christian told Gay Star News the company is "proud" to have the personal trainer "as one of our brand ambassadors."

"The political environment in the United States has become very dark and divisive toward the LGBTQ community so it is extremely important that we all stick together and support each other in every way possible especially being inclusive and celebrating the amazing diversity in our community," Christian added.

In his interview with Gay Star News, Dimond explained he began his transition four years ago and says though he isn't close with his family, they were not surprised when he came out and did not have any "big issues" about his transition. He also acknowledged that he's able to "pass" as a man, saying, "I got white male privilege as soon as I started passing," adding that he knows many trans people are not as fortunate.

Diamond also opened up about his sexual identity, saying he identifies as "demi-sexual, queer," revealing he is currently single.

"Most women seem to think I'm really gay, but I'm like, 'No, I'm queer, so it's like I'm not totally gay,' so I don't know," he told Gay Star News. "Most people seem to think I'm only interested in men."

Elsewhere in the interview, Dimond talks about go-go dancing at gay clubs and work as a personal trainer. Click here to read the Gay Star News interview in full.
