Katy Perry Nods to '90s Babies With '143' Album Title

Katy Perry's sixth studio album is imminent, and now we have more details after Perry hit us with a very sexy preview of her first single "Woman's World."

As reported by Variety, some sly fans were snooping around her merchandise website and saw lots of gear and cover art for something being promoted as "143."

Soon after fans began spilling the beans, Perry made an official announcement confirming that the name of her album was indeed "143" and it will be available everywhere on Sept. 20.

What's more is the title of her album is a subtle nod to '90s babies who remember having to text "143" on their buttoned phones as code for saying "I love you."

About the album, Perry said she "set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message."

The album's first single "Woman's World," will be released at 7 p.m. on July 10, following a music video release on July 12.

Still, exact details remain scarce around the album, including possible features and collaborations. However, we do know that Dr. Luke had a hand in the album's creation.

Perry's last album, "Smile," included a handful of singles but became her lowest-performing album in years. So it is fair to say that she is looking for a win with this new album afterselling the rights to her catalog for $225 million.

But the question remains, can Perry compete in a world ruled by Chappell Roan and other pop girlies?
