10 Reasons Why Our Hearts Need Defibrillating After Seeing '9-1-1' Star Oliver Stark

Timothy Rawles READ TIME: 5 MIN.

Oliver Stark was born in London in 1991, only his name was Oliver Jones back then.

"Stark was my late Grandmother's maiden name," he told Bello. "When I joined the acting union in the U.K. 'Oliver Jones' was taken so I had to come up with something else!"

Finding his footing in Hollywood, he started auditioning for big roles something that he wasn't being offered in the U.K. The 32-year-old said he was "invigorated by the possibilities." In 2017 one of those possibilities arose and Stark was cast as Evan "Buck" Buckley in the Ryan Murphy-created procedural drama "9-1-1" where he's been a series regular for seven seasons.

His story arc has been filled with many surprises but perhaps none bigger than this year's season finale when he and former firefighter Tommy Kinard become an item and kiss each other which then leads Buck to come out to his rescue team. Supportive fans praised the moment, but others had a lot of bad things to say on social media which led Stark to issue his own clapback on social media.

"If you are one of the smaller group of people commenting on my posts about how this has ruined the show, I would like you to know that I truly don't care. This is a show about love and inclusion."

The actor doesn't update his social media pages too often, so fans have to do it for him. We found an account on Facebook and X dedicated to Oliver which showcases his sexy side. Let's take a look at why this sexy new star is so hot right now.

There's a common fantasy about being saved by a sexy first responder and Oliver Stark fits that role. Of course, in real life the heroics of these brave men and women shouldn't be trivialized but when they look as good as Oliver does it's hard not to be objectifying.

His character Buck on "9-1-1" was initially a loose cannon who once used a fire truck to get a woman. Since then, Buck has become a robust character who has grown a lot over the years allowing him to be honest with others and more importantly himself.

This beefy pose could hang on the wall as a part of a yearly firefighter calendar. His tattoo that reads "hordearii" is Latin for "barley eaters," which might be a reference to Oliver being a vegan. The term was used in the day of the gladiators who themselves were mostly vegetarians.

Embracing his natural beauty, Oliver never covers up his facial birthmark, or what is affectionately called an Angel Kiss. He says he was advised to have it removed upon entering the acting field, but it's not something he is worried about.

"I never really took it too seriously," he said in Men's Health. "People often kind of want to give you this compliment of like, 'Oh, you're so brave...' and I'm just like, 'It doesn't feel like that'. Because it's just never been one of the things I've been insecure about."

Oliver doesn't need to be uniform all the time. This black-and-white picture takes us away from the fire station into what looks like a professional photography studio. His sharp lines and muscular symmetry are defined here, and the absence of color only adds to the mood and feels very primal.

In 2022 People magazine included Oliver in their Sexiest Man Alive pictorials. On "9-1-1" he plays a lothario dressed in blue. This picture shows why he is so successful at it on the show. But as we learn in this year's season finale, his character Buck has learned a few things about casual sex even so far as admitting that he is bisexual and willing to explore that seriously for the first time.

This is Oliver's dog named Jade who looks happy as can be sitting next to her human. The actor is an animal lover who won't even eat meat. "I went vegan for ethical reasons," he says in Men's Health. "I like animals. I didn't necessarily want to eat them... It's just become my lifestyle now. I don't have to think twice about it."

This photo is from the page "Oliver Stark Archive" on X. It consists of four sexy photos of Oliver on the set of "9-1-1." It's the sleeveless tee in the first shot that has us swooning. Those big arms look like they could crush steel. Maybe James Gunn missed the mark casting David Corenswet as Superman when Oliver might have been perfect for the part. He already plays a superhero on his TV series.

Is that lipstick on Oliver's face? Even though he plays a bisexual character on "9-1-1," the actor hasn't revealed his orientation in real life. But the tabloids have sleuthed out he is dating actress Hannah Gottesman at the moment. In 2018 he told People Magazine that he was enamored with Gottesman and wanted to slip into her DMs, "But I still didn't want to message her because I was like, there's no way for a guy to message a girl on social media without sounding creepy. Eventually, she sent me a message and said, 'Are you going to like my photos or are you going to say hello?'"

Oliver Stark has been a part of the "9-1-1" series since 2018. Whether his rookie character Buck was sowing his wild oats with women or saving a newborn baby from a toilet pipe, his heart was always in play. Six years later he is growing up. These two pictures show the progression of that growth as he finds a new love and a new life with Tommy Kinard.
