Britain's First Gay Dads Say They Want Triplets Next

In 1999, Brits Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and then-partner Tony Drewitt-Barlow made history when they became the first gay couple to be registered as parents to surrogate twins Saffron and Aspen, followed by a son, Orlando. Now the ex-husbands are planning to have triplets, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

"Even though Tony and I are separated, we are still very much a family," Barrie told the Daily Mail. "We have made history as the first same-sex couple to have our names on our children's birth certificates."

Now the ex-husbands are planning to make history once more as "throuple dads," Barrie said.

After separating in 2019, Barrie, 51, and Tony, 56, had more children together. Barrie also shares a daughter, Valentina, with his fiancé Scott Hutchinson, who is 25 years his junior and the ex-boyfriend of Barrie's daughter.

Barrie and Scott both donated sperm to have Valentina via egg donor and don't know who is her biological father. Now Barrie and Scott plan to create triplets with Tony via surrogate, using three embryos fertilized with each of their sperm.

The three all live together in a 10-bedroom estate in Tampa, Florida, and plan to all share responsibilities and sign their names on their children's birth certificates.

Barrie is a Manchester-born wealthy businessman. He reportedly once gifted his daughter, Saffron, ex-girlfriend of his current fiancé, a £500,000 diamond and ruby ring once owned by Wallis Simpson.

About sharing the children with his ex, Barrie said: "I love being a dad more than anything and don't see myself stopping having babies any time soon."

A surrogate is scheduled to be implanted with the three embryos in the next few weeks.
