As part of her latest comedy tour, lesbian comedian Fortune Feimster, formerly of the hit show "Chelsea Lately," will travel to Philadelphia's Helium Comedy Club to play five shows from September 25-27.
"I have some new jokes about my mom's second marriage that I'm enjoying right now," said Feimster. "Basically, the whole marriage was a disaster but I can't give away the actual story. You'll have to come see the show!"
With her bushy orange hair and Southern drawl, Feimster is not the first woman who springs to mind when one bats around the phrase "late-night talk show phenom." But this funny girl parlayed her success as a semi-finalist on "Last Comic Standing" to become a writer and regular performer on the hit E! Network program, "Chelsea Lately." Feimster, who is an alumna of the prestigious Groundlings Sunday Company, will debut next month in a new TV show.
"Right now I'm guest starring in a new Fox sitcom called "Mulaney," which
premieres next month. So I'm just pursuing acting at the moment and trying to write my own projects. I'm excited about what's to come!," she said.
Recently Fortune opened for Chelsea at Caesar's Palace in Windsor and she performed in front of 15,000 people as part of Dave Chappelle and Flight of the Conchord's "Oddball Fest." Her standup was also featured on HBO Canada's "Funny As Hell" and she'll be appearing in an upcoming episode of Comedy Central's storytelling show "This Is Not Happening." She can currently be seen in the Jim Belushi movie, "The Secret Lives of Dorks," which was just released in theaters.
"I'm doing standup all over the place," Feimster told EDGE. "I've got shows coming up in West Palm Beach, Chicago, Sacramento, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, St. Louis, Ft. Worth, Nashville, Rhode Island, San Francisco. Check out my website www.fortunefeimster.com for more specific info."
Fortune Feimster plays on September 25-27 at Helium Comedy Club, 2031 Sansom Street in Philadelphia. For information or tickets, call 215-496-9001 or visit https://center-stage.seatengine.com/venues/helium-comedy-club/events/5075/shows
