Happy National Coming Out Day: From Courage to Care

READ TIME: 1 MIN. SPONSORED

Coming out is a powerful act of self-acceptance. Call it your “Here I am” era. It can be exciting, scary, complicated, or all of the above. It can happen at any stage of life. But that moment, it is uniquely you. Think of it like your Spotify Wrapped. Whatever it looks like, even if you’re not ready for it yet, you shouldn’t have to navigate it alone.

You deserve to feel seen and supported.

That’s what National Coming Out Day is about. It’s visibility, taking up space, and  community. October 11 turns your “Born This Way” reveal into a stadium sing-along—so paws up!

National Coming Out Day began in 1988, marking the anniversary of the Second National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. The day is now a staple of LGBTQ History Month. A day to honor courage, celebrate authenticity, and stand together.

As we clap, cheer and celebrate this month, we also recognize the significance of the moment. For Covered California, being an ally is more than a single day or Pride-ified logo; it's about showing up every day of the year.

But this is your story. When you’re ready, enter the group chat. Support comes in every vibe: community centers, crisis text lines, therapists, LGBTQ-friendly doctors, peer groups, and more. Different scenes, but the same message—you belong!

Here at Covered California, we see you and we support you. From free resources to in-language assistance to financial help, we are committed to helping Californians lead healthier lives. Why? For the love of Californians.
