Lady Gaga To Defy Gravity With Space Performance

To go where no pop star has ever gone: Lady Gaga will be the first musician to sing in space.

According to Us Weekly Mother Monster purchased a ticket on the Virgin Galactic ship, which is slated to blast off sometime in 2015, and will sing from low orbit during the Zero G Colony, a three-day high-tech music festival in New Mexico.

"She has to do a month of vocal training because of the atmosphere," says a source, who adds that the diva's glam squad will join her in the shuttle," a source told Us Weekly before adding that Gaga's personnel will also join her on the flight.

Zero G Colony takes place at the Spaceport America and features a number of musicians and new technologies. According to Us Weekly, the pop star will perform in space on the event's third day at dawn - about six months after the first Virgin Galactic commercial flight.

The source told the magazine that the performance will be "like nothing the world has seen before," adding that "Gaga has taken out a ridiculous life insurance policy!"

Virgin Galactic will offer suborbital flights to tourists who wish to travel in space. The flights will also be used for space missions and orbital launches of small satellites.

The source did not reveal what Gaga plans to sing in space. Fingers are crossed for a cover of David Bowie's "Space Oddity."
