South Florida LGBTQ+ Leader Enrique Santos Named Miami Beach Pride's 2020 Community Grand Marshal

Wednesday March 11, 2020

Miami Beach Pride announced today that Enrique Santos, chairman and chief creative officer of iHeartLatino, will serve as its 2020 community grand marshal. The title honors a local leader who goes above and beyond in supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Advocating for the LGBTQ+ and Latinx communities at work, on the radio waves and beyond earned Santos the title. He will help kick off Miami Beach Pride's 12th annual celebration March 28-April 5.

Santos heads iHeartMedia's Latin direction and strategy. His daily signature morning show is syndicated nationally through Premiere Networks, which airs live from iHeart's Miami station, TÚ 94.9.

Born to Cuban parents in Chicago, Illinois, Santos gravitates between the Hispanic and mainstream U.S. radio landscapes. His bilingual broadcasts combine humor, social satire and political commentary to bridge the cultural and generational divide of diverse cosmopolitan audiences.

"The LGBTQ+ community is made up of so many strong, passionate and diverse voices," Santos said. "I'm honored to serve as Miami Beach Pride's community grand marshal this year as we work together to make South Florida, and the world, more tolerant and accepting places for everyone."

Santos has built an enthusiastic following with a comedic repertoire consisting of phone pranks, interviews and a trademark form of fresh and unique interaction among celebrities. His larger-than-life radio persona has made him one of the most popular Hispanic radio hosts in the U.S. and earned him unprecedented access to some of the biggest names in pop culture.

No matter how busy his schedule, Santos maintains strong community ties and continues volunteering as a reserve police officer for the City of Miami Police Department.

"Thanks to local leaders like Enrique Santos, we're making great strides in empowering our LGBTQ+ community here in South Florida," said Bruce Horwich, chairman of Miami Beach Pride. "With the support of leaders like Santos, more and more people are recognizing the importance of accepting our growing community and establishing a more compassionate and understanding culture."

Santos was named iHeartRadio's Latin Personality of The Year in 2017. In 2015, Santos was named National/Syndicated Radio Personality of the Year by Radio Ink and was awarded the prestigious Medallas de Cortez Medal.

In 2014, Santos was also named My Favorite DJ at Univision's Premios Juventud. He is frequently invited to present and host some of the music industry's top award ceremonies, including the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers' Latin Music Awards, Billboard Latin Music Awards, iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina and the iHeartRadio Music Awards.
