Just who has broken down fashion barriers in 2021? Billy Porter thinks he did it and called out Harry Styles in an interview with the London Sunday Times in a very public and derisive way. "In an interview with British paper The Sunday Times, CNN reports Porter argued there was a disconnect in the opportunities afforded to him as a Black, gay man and those given to Styles. "I feel like the fashion industry has accepted me because they have to," he said. "I created the conversation (about non-binary fashion) and yet Vogue still put Harry Styles, a straight white man, in a dress on their cover for the first time."

In the interview, Porter claims that "proper credit is lacking," writes CNN. "Porter told the paper, saying he 'changed the whole game' when it came to men wearing skirts and dresses."

On Twitter the response was quick and largely negative against Porter. Some saw his point:

But for the most part, Porter was slammed with some pointing out that he is also cis and that other artists (David Bowie, Prince, Freddie Mercury) preceded him in the wearing of women's clothes on stage and in public.
